Live Nation Entertainment stock slides after execs address ticket sale challenges
It’s no secret that the summer 2010 season has been a difficult one for touring artists. Reports of cancelled concerts and axed tours have dampened what is traditionally one of the live entertainment industry’s biggest quarters.
Live Nation Entertainment shrugged off earlier reports that a spree of well publicized cancellations this summer was indicative of a deeper trend. However, during an investor and analyst meeting held in New York City on July 15, Live Nation acknowledged a decline in ticket sales during the first half of the year, and told investors to expect additional declines in the second half. Live Nation Shares Plunge On Poor Ticket sales

Rush rainout prompts lawsuit against the band and promoter Live Nation
Angered over a rain-soaked cancellation, Christopher Langone, a self-proclaimed “lifelong fan” of the rock band Rush, has filed a class-action lawsuit against the band’s three members and Live Nation over a canceled July 7 concert at Chicago’s Charter One Pavilion.
According to Langone, the concert, which while held in an open air pavilion, was billed as a rain or shine event, meaning the band should have played despite the ever present rain storms in the area. Full Story…

Target price for Live Nation Entertainment stock is lowered significantly
The target price for Live Nation Entertainment stock, which trades under the symbol LYV, has been lowered by an influential financial analyst as concerns about show cancellations continue to swirl around the ticketing and concert promotions giant.

AEG Live moves closer to competing with Live Nation Entertainment on ticketing
AEG Live, the nation’s second-largest concert promotions company, has reportedly begun preliminary talks with record labels for backing to help the company’s expansion to better compete with industry leader Live Nation Entertainment.
When Live Nation was allowed to merge with Ticketmaster, one of the conditions imposed by the U.S. Department of Justice was the requirement that Ticketmaster license its ticketing software to AEG, which was a move designed to bolster competition in the ticketing industry. Full Story…

Live Nation Entertainment remains strong despite cancellations, analyst says
Live Nation Entertainment, which has faced some challenges in recent weeks, is in strong financial shape due in part to positive concert ticket sales, according to investment bank Thomas Weisel Partners.
